AdvancedMD Overview

AdvancedMD is an electronic medical record used by Rula, its patients (mostly for psychiatry), and psychiatry providers who contract with Rula. The AdvancedMD patient portal is different from the Rula patient portal - the below outlines which patient portal you should go to in order to complete certain actions.

AdvancedMD patient portal

  • Make a manual bill payment (both therapy and psychiatry patients)
  • View records (psychiatry patients only)
  • Fill out patient forms (psychiatry patients only)
  • Message your provider directly (psychiatry patients only)

The AdvancedMD patient portal landing page

Once you have successfully logged into the portal, you'll see the landing page below.

 

 

The landing page shows patient/contact information, date of birth, balance due (if any), next and last appointments, and any reminders to take action. 

Selecting buttons at the top or bottom of the landing page allow you to navigate to the different sections: Bills, Forms, and Records. In each of these sections you can:

  • Bills - View and pay your account balance online using a credit or debit card.
  • Records - View or download your medical records.
  • Forms - Access your forms and update any outstanding/incomplete forms

 

Patient Forms

If you have been sent forms that still need to be completed, a red number will appear over the Patient Forms icon. Clicking the icon will take you to the forms that need to be completed. Click Start to fill out each form.

 

 

Additional information

Please note that patients cannot change/update the following information from within the AMD patient portal:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Insurance information
  • Credit card on file

If you would like to update your phone number, address, credit card on file, or insurance information, you can do so by logging into your Rula patient portal.

AdvancedMD technical issues and troubleshooting help

Below outlines steps you can take if you are having trouble accessing your AdvancedMD patient portal account.

 

Registering your Patient Portal Account for the first time

Forgot Password

You can reset your password by clicking Forgot Password on the AMD patient portal homepage. 

 

 

You should use the email address that you have on file with Rula to properly reset your password.

 

 

If you see the below error message when trying to reset your password, this means that your AMD Patient Portal account has not yet been fully established. If you haven’t created/registered your AMD patient portal account for the first time, click here to read about registering your AMD patient portal account.

 

 

Two-Factor Authentication

AMD patient portal access may require two-factor authentication.

You will receive a 6-digit code by email that you will need to enter within 15 minutes. If you do not enter the code within 15 minutes, you will have to repeat the process.

Once entered, you can select "Keep me logged in for 24 hours."

 

Email already in use

You may receive an error message when trying to log into your AdvancedMD patient portal that says "Email already in use for another account." Please email support@rula.com for help resolving this issue.

 

Session timing out

If you see the below screen, you will soon be automatically logged out of the AMD patient portal. The countdown indicates when your session will be timed out. You will need to click the “Yes” button before the timer ends to stay logged in.
