In-person appointment overview
Rula is excited to introduce in-person therapy services as part of our commitment to providing flexible and effective care. This service complements our telehealth options, giving clients and therapists the opportunity to connect face-to-face when preferred.
When are in-person therapy services available?
Rula now offers in‑person therapy nationwide; availability depends on the your location and preferences, and we’re adding new providers every week.
Where are in-person therapy services offered?
Appointments take place at provider-operated offices, which may include commercial or home offices that meet Rula’s requirements. We aim to expand in-person services to additional states by the end of 2025.
Who is eligible for in-person therapy?
- Age requirement: Clients aged 5 and older.
- Session types: All therapy types—individual, couples, family, and specialties offered by Rula are available for in-person treatment.
- Insurance: Any in-network payer located in an eligible state. Medicare Advantage members with active coverage through Rula are also eligible. Patients can also self-pay if they do not have insurance coverage.
Note: Completing registration forms is required 24 hours before attending in-person appointments. If in-person services are unavailable due to location or insurance, this will be communicated through our Support team.
How to schedule in-person appointments
- Through the Rula patient portal: You can read more about how to schedule in-person appointments in this help center article.
- Through Rula’s Support Team: If you are interested in scheduling an in-person appointment, please contact our Support team at (213) 642-1035 or by email at inperson-scheduling@rula.com.
- Through insurance-specific scheduling: Some insurance providers may require you to contact Rula, or they will schedule directly with you using their scheduling tools.
Once your appointment is booked, you will receive:
- A confirmation email.
- Three reminder emails (48 hours, 24 hours, and 1 hour before your session).
Viewing and managing in-person appointments
You can view your in-person appointment details, including the location, directly in the Rula patient portal. The location of your in-person appointment is also in your confirmation email. If necessary, appointments can also be canceled or rescheduled from the Rula patient portal. Understanding costs for in-person sessions
- Cost variability: In-person sessions may have different rates than telehealth services, depending on your insurance.
- Verification of benefits: Rula will use the insurance details you provide during registration to verify your benefits and send you a personalized overview of your expected out-of-pocket costs based on your plan prior to your first session.
