Getting Referred for Additional Services with Kaiser Permanente of Northern California

If your Rula therapist has recommended additional mental health services and you have Kaiser Permanente of Northern California insurance, here's what you need to know.

Your Next Steps

You will receive an email from Rula confirming that your therapist has recommended you seek an additional service, such as evaluation for psychiatric medication management, a higher level of care, or group therapy.

To follow-up on this recommendation, Kaiser Permanente of Northern California requires you to contact your local Kaiser Permanente Mental Health clinic and request an evaluation.

What to Do:

  • Call your local Kaiser Permanente Mental Health clinic
  • Tell them: "My external Rula therapist has recommended that I be evaluated for [specific service]"
  • Work with Kaiser Permanente to schedule your evaluation or appointment

Important Notes

  • Kaiser will manage the evaluation and scheduling process
  • No additional paperwork from Rula is needed
  • Continue your Rula therapy as normal while pursuing additional services
  • Kaiser will evaluate whether the recommended service is appropriate and determine next steps in your evaluation and treatment.
