How to Change Your Pharmacy or Fix Prescription Issues

This article assists patients who need to change their pharmacy or are having trouble with their prescription. 

The Fastest Option: Message Your Provider

You can request a pharmacy change or prescription update directly through the Rula patient portal:

  1. Log in to the Rula patient portal
  2. Click the Messages tab
  3. Send your provider a message in the patient portal with:
    • Your medication name(s)
    • Your preferred pharmacy name and address

Need to Change Your Pharmacy?

You can change your pharmacy in one of two ways:

Option 1: Message Your Provider

Send your provider your new pharmacy details through the patient portal (see steps above).

Option 2: Contact Support

Our support team can update your pharmacy and notify your provider.

Be ready to share:

  • Your full name and date of birth
  • Medication name(s)
  • New pharmacy name
  • Pharmacy address
  • Pharmacy phone number (if available)

Common Pharmacy Issues

My pharmacy didn’t receive my prescription:

  • Double-check which pharmacy your prescription was sent to
  • If needed, message your provider or contact Support to resend it

My prescription was sent to the wrong pharmacy

  • Share your correct pharmacy details with your provider or Support
  • Your prescription can be sent to the updated location

My medication is out of stock

  • Call nearby pharmacies to check availability
  • Once you find one, send the new pharmacy details to your provider or Support

The pharmacy says my prescription is invalid or expired

  • Message your provider to review your prescription
  • In some cases, a follow-up appointment may be required

Important Notes:

  • Some medications (such as controlled substances) may require a follow-up appointment before they can be refilled
  • Some states restrict prescribing certain medications via telehealth
  • Your provider may adjust, change, or discontinue medications based on clinical judgment
  • Transfer patients are not guaranteed continuation of their current regimen
  • Missing appointments can delay prescription refills
  • Visits are not refundable if scheduled for services not offered
