Viewing, Canceling, and Rescheduling Appointments

This article provides step-by-step instructions to help you navigate the Rula patient portal. You’ll learn how to view, reschedule, and cancel telehealth appointments in the patient portal. Additionally, the article includes instructions on how to view, schedule, or cancel in-person appointments and guidance on contacting Support if you need help rescheduling in-person appointments.

Viewing Appointments

When you visit the Rula patient portal, you'll land on the Appointments page. If you need detailed instructions for logging in, visit this article.

Here, you'll be able to see the date and time of your upcoming appointments. Within each appointment card, you can view:

  • The name of the provider
  • Indication if it is your first appointment with that provider
  • The date and time of the appointment
  • The appointment type
    • Please note: If the appointment is in-person, the location will be displayed with a clickable address to view the map.

Telehealth appointments

For telehealth appointments, you can also take the following actions in the patient portal:

  • Cancel your appointment
  • Reschedule your appointment

In-person therapy appointments

For in-person appointments, you can take the following actions in the patient portal:

  • Cancel your appointment

Please review Rula's no-show and late cancellation policy before modifying appointments. 

Scheduling a follow-up appointment

There may be instances where you need to schedule a follow-up appointment with your provider. Please review the below instructions on how to schedule a follow-up appointment for telehealth and in-person appointments.

Telehealth appointments

  1. Log into the Rula patient portal
  2. Navigate to the Appointments tab
  3. Click Book Appointment in the top right corner
  4. Choose the provider you’d like to schedule an appointment with
  5. Choose the date and time you’d like to schedule the appointment 
  6. Once you find a time that works, click Confirm appointment to schedule the session 

If you can’t find a time that works, or your provider doesn’t have any availability, you can send them a message to inquire about scheduling a different appointment time.

 

In-person appointments

Scheduling in-person follow-up appointments is not available through the patient portal. To book a follow-up appointment, please message your provider via the Messages tab in the patient portal. For more details, refer to this help center article.

 

Rescheduling an Appointment

Rescheduling a telehealth appointment

For telehealth appointments you can reschedule initial appointments and follow-up appointments from within the Appointments tab of the portal. Follow the step-by-step instructions below or watch the how-to video.

  1. Log into the Rula patient portal
  2. Navigate to the Appointments page
  3. Click the three horizontal dots in the top right of the appointment you wish to reschedule
  4. Click Reschedule appointment

    Note: If your appointment is less than 24 hours away, you will be charged a last-minute reschedule fee according to Rula's cancellation policy. For therapy this is $99, for psychiatry this is $150. 
  5. Select the desired time slot from your provider's availability
    Note: If your provider does not have availability, you'll see this screen. Please contact them directly to reschedule, or contact our customer Support Team and we'll be happy to help.

  6. Confirm the appointment details and click Reschedule Appointment
  7. You'll see an indication at the top of the portal once your appointment is successfully rescheduled and the provider has been notified.

Note: We're now Rula! You may still hear Path in our videos from time to time and we appreciate your patience while we continue to update our content to align with our new name. Additionally, this video only applies to telehealth and not in-person appointments.

 

Scheduling and rescheduling in-person therapy appointments

Scheduling and rescheduling in-person appointments is not an option through the patient portal. To reschedule, please message your provider via the Messages tab or contact our Support Team at inperson-scheduling@rula.com to make changes to your in-person appointment.

Once your in-person appointment is rescheduled, you will receive an email with the address of your appointment location.

Canceling an Appointment

You can cancel telehealth and in-person initial and follow-up appointments from within the Appointments tab of your portal by following the step-by-step instructions below.

  1. Log into the Rula patient portal
  2. Navigate to the Appointments page
  3. Click the three horizontal dots in the top right of the appointment you wish to reschedule
  4. Click Cancel appointment

  5. Click Yes, cancel appointment to confirm cancellation
    Note: If the appointment is less than 24 hours away, you'll be charged a late cancellation fee according to Rula's cancellation policy. For therapy this is $99, for psychiatry, this is $150. 
  6. You'll see an indication that your appointment is successfully canceled, and you'll no longer see the appointment in the upcoming appointments list. 

Important Note for Therapy: When initial appointments are canceled in the portal, the four follow-up appointments automatically booked with that appointment are also canceled. When follow-up appointments are canceled, only that appointment is changed.

At this time in-person therapy appointments are available to members located in CA, CO, DC, MD, VA, GA, FL, and TX. In-person appointments are available to Medicare Advantage CA members with payers that have active Medicare Advantage coverage with Rula. Please note that in-person psychiatry appointments are not available at this time.
