This article provides step-by-step instructions to help you navigate the Rula patient portal. You’ll learn how to view, reschedule, and cancel telehealth appointments in the patient portal. Additionally, the article includes instructions on how to view, schedule, or cancel in-person appointments and guidance on contacting Support if you need help rescheduling in-person appointments.
Viewing Appointments
When you visit the Rula patient portal, you'll land on the Appointments page. If you need detailed instructions for logging in, visit this article.
Here, you'll be able to see the date and time of your upcoming appointments. Within each appointment card, you can view:
- The name of the provider
- Indication if it is your first appointment with that provider
- The date and time of the appointment
- The appointment type
- If the appointment is in-person, the location will be displayed with a clickable address to view the map.
Please note that a list or record of past appointments is not currently viewable within the Rula patient portal. If you require a summary list of your session history, you can view statements for all past appointments in the Billing tab in the Rula patient portal, or use the chat widget below to start a conversation with our service team, who will assist you.

For telehealth and in-person appointments, you can also take the following actions in the patient portal:
- Cancel your appointment
- Reschedule your appointment

Scheduling a follow-up appointment
There may be instances where you need to schedule a follow-up appointment with your provider. Please review the instructions below on how to schedule a follow-up appointment for telehealth and in-person appointments.
- Log into the Rula patient portal
- Navigate to the Appointments tab
- Click Book Appointment in the top right corner
- Choose the provider you’d like to schedule an appointment with
- Select if you would like telehealth or in-person appointments (for in-person eligible states)
- Choose the date and time you’d like to schedule the appointment

Once you find a time that works, click Confirm appointment to schedule the session
- When you book an appointment (or series of appointments), Rula sends you confirmation and reminder emails, as well as calendar invite emails so you can add the session to your personal calendar.
If you can’t find a time that works, or your provider doesn’t have any availability, you can send them a message to inquire about scheduling a different appointment time.
Rescheduling an Appointment
You can reschedule initial and follow-up therapy appointments (telehealth or in-person) from within the Appointments tab of the portal.
Follow the step-by-step instructions below.
- Log into the Rula patient portal
- Navigate to the Appointments page
- Click the three horizontal dots in the top right of the appointment you wish to reschedule
- Click Reschedule appointment
Note: If your appointment is less than 24 hours away, you will be charged a last-minute. reschedule fee according to Rula's cancellation policy. For therapy this is $99, for psychiatry this is $150. - Select the desired time slot from your provider's availability
Note: If your provider does not have availability, you'll see this screen. Please contact them. directly to reschedule, or contact our customer Support Team and we'll be happy to help - Confirm the appointment details and click Reschedule Appointment
- You'll see an indication at the top of the portal once your appointment is successfully rescheduled and the provider has been notified
Canceling an Appointment
You can cancel telehealth and in-person initial and follow-up appointments from within the Appointments tab of your portal by following the step-by-step instructions below.
- Log into the Rula patient portal
- Navigate to the Appointments page
- Click the three horizontal dots in the top right of the appointment you wish to cancel
- Click Cancel appointment
- If this is an initial appointment or the last appointment you have scheduled with this provider, you will be asked to give a reason for your cancellation. Once you give a reason, click Continue.
- If you have any additional follow-up appointments with your provider, you will be asked if you’d like to cancel or reschedule the appointment. Click Cancel appointment.
Note: If the appointment is less than 24 hours away, you'll be charged a late cancellation fee according to Rula's cancellation policy. For therapy this is $99, for psychiatry, this is $150.
- You'll see an indication that your appointment is successfully canceled, and you'll no longer see the appointment in the upcoming appointments list.
Important note for therapy: When initial appointments are canceled in the portal, the four follow-up appointments automatically booked with that appointment are also canceled. When follow-up appointments are canceled, only that appointment is changed.
